My completed project!!

Here it finished project for my Bestie's birthday....She can't get it until she tells me she saw it on my blog..

I hadn't planned on something so large, but it just took on a life of its own once I started.  The center block is "Dublin Steps" to remind her of our trip to Ireland.  Other blocks relate to her...the books (she is a librarian), the bug jars with cherries (she has been with me throughout the cherry fabric hunt), she has a viking sewing machine and her favorite thread is Sulky.  I hope she likes it.  I thoroughly enjoyed creating it for a special person... Now on to other b-day gifts for my other special friends.

Road Trip to A&E Pharmacy, Pensacola, Florida

Yep, we went to a Pharmacy....BUT this place is also the most incredible fabric store ever!!!  12 of our guild members participated in this road trip.  I really love our road, laughter (crying under the table laughter!), learning, fellowship..... tooo fun!!  Here are a few picks from the trip... enjoy

Just Needles Fiber Arts Guild--a sassy looking bunch, indeed! This is only half our membership.
Outside of A&E.   That's me on the far left.
Glenda...decisions, decisions

Ahhh, the hunt is on!!!  Who will win this time???

Pam appears to have found something really good!!
As we were putting the challenge fabric in the car, it came unfolded... Gooood teamwork, Pam & Jeanette!
Our challenge fabric.... Love this!  Erin did a great job! Each member gets a fat quater.  We must use some of this fabric in a block of our choice.  How much and the block pattern is up to each member.  We will put the blocks together, one of our members will quilt it, then we will draw names to see who wins the quilt.  We have enough members now so we are going to make 2 quilts and donate one of them to the bank where we meet in the community room.
The Five Sisters Blues Cafe in Pensacola, Fl... the food is fantastic!
Hungry Quilters!!!
Sandra won!!!!!  She spent the most at A&E!!!!
Its allll about the food.  Y'all gotta try this place!
Alas, the end to a wonderful day!!!!

road trip

Here are a few of the pics of our Road Trip to Cajun Village, Sorrento, LA.  These were taken last year. I forgot to take any this year.  It would have been interesting to post a pic of the outskirts of the tornado that went through while we were having lunch!  Weather was awful for about an hour or so.  We sooo love our road trips and pig-trailing.
Regina and me acting silly.  This place offers samples of all their wines.

One of the buildings .  They are all original cajun houses moved to this one central location.

View of the another area of the village.  There is an alligator pond in back of this house. Last year we saw the alligator.
I finally got back to work.  I am trying to embroidery some earrings using metalic thread. I am ready to give up!!!!!  Why can't I do this????  The thread keeps breaking... I have everything I am supposed to have...metallic needle, thread spool in correct position, correct bobbin thread....something ain't right!!  guess I better get back to it...
Let me hear from ya...keep stitchin',  Marsha

Finally realized that I need to get on the ball to have enough items for a good showing at the Live Oak Crafts Festival.  So, I get a great idea for a half apron.....go to iron the material....THE IRON DOESN'T WORK!!!   We will now have a moment of silence......................Now, I have to go get a new iron... Not in my budget this month, but gotta have it!  Then, after accepting the purchase of a new iron, I can't remember my password to login to the blog.  Had several written down....none worked....... finally reset the password.
I think I will just go pout for a while!  I need chocolate.
On the brighter side, friends and I are taking a day trip to Cajun Village somewhere in Louisiana.  We have been there before, but I can't remember where it is.  Hope the driver, Jeanette, can remember.  We are, of course, going to smoke out fabric stores.  And eat (its all about the food and fabric, right?).  I will post pics when we get back.
So, I am off to have a cup of coffee and pout while I decide which iron to get.  I hate to go to Walmart!
                                                 Meanwhile, keep stitchin'!!  Marsha
